Streaming service ShowMax is nothing short of fantastic. The basics:
 
– It’s TV served via your Internet connection
– A wide range of movies and series
– It works on any Internet connected device (such as a laptop, an iPad, AppleTV, or any Internet-connected Smart TV)
 
At R99 per month, it’s a great deal with great content.
 
Netflix is also available in South Africa with a similar price. Netflix has a superb catalogue, however they haven’t quite purchased the rights for South Africa for most of their content so, when compared to what the US or UK viewers get, it isn’t much – but it’s still worth getting.
 
So why is a media agency (which essentially advises clients where and when to advertise) interested in ShowMax or Netflix, when you can’t take ads on on them? Simple, this is the future of how movies and series will be delivered and, eventually, Sports.
 
Just as the tape cassette and eventually the printed newspaper die out, so too will the fashion of sticking a massive satellite dish on your home to get TV. Advertising opportunities already exist on streaming platforms (through product placement and branded content).
